About me:
Welcome to my website. I'm Leland Russell, and I'm from New Hampshire. I'm a fourth year Mathematics and Statistics student at Reed College in Portland, OR. I'm expecting to graduate this coming year (2027). I hope to continue my education through a Ph.D in statistics. I identify myself as a Bayesian insofar as I am comfortable calling myself a statistician. Some of my interests include (only slightly ordered):- Computational methods for Statistics, including
- MCMC samplers
- Nonparametric Bayesian methods
- EM algorithm and variants
- Stochastic Processes
- Implementing Bayesian alternatives to frequentist models
- (model-based) Clustering
- Baking, Cooking, and running a baking column in the student newspaper
- Algorithm Analysis
- Variably, different flavors of (estimator) asymptotic analysis
- Fabric dyeing and sewing
- Biking around Portland
- Hiking
- Random Variable convergence and analysis in function spaces
- Making Cheese
- Linux Package Management
- Porting C to R
- Programming language development
- Information Theory
